Flint Hills serenade in Cottonwood Falls, KS

Cottonwood Falls, KS has been hosting a ‘jam session’ every friday for years and this is the first I’ve heard of it!

Beginning in 1999, “music night” was the first Friday of every month. It soon became every Friday. The indoor jams moved outdoors during mild weather, then back inside when it was bad.

These days, the first Friday of each month is dedicated to acoustic country music, the second to acoustic gospel music, the third to bluegrass and the fourth to vintage country and rock ‘n’ roll.

Cottonwood Falls is a great destination - about 20 miles North of Cassoday on K177, or about 35 miles South of Council Grove. Stay tuned - I’ll sort out the details and we’ll have a ride to jam some Friday this fall!

Iron Butt Rally - 2007 IBR - Day -2: Tech Inspection

Paul Allison, a rider from Great Britain, didnt finish the installation of an auxiliary fuel tank on his rented Gold Wing early enough to get it inspected today.

The Iron Butt Rally is an 11-day 11,000 mile scavenger-hunt style ride around the country. Apparently, one rider rented a Gold Wing for the ride. Hope he opted for the ‘unlimited milage’ option on that contract!

Arkansas Byway Boogie: HSTA Rally
2007 Arkansas Byway Boogie-A Weekend In Paris (Arkansas) October 19-21, 2007

For this years Boogie we’ve gone north to gay Paris to be right in the middle of Arkansas’ best riding. No matter which direction you head out of Paris you’ll find enough squiggly, curvy mountain roads to satisfy any corner carver’s addiction.

The site is updated - with the right phone number for the hotel! Pre-registration forms aren’t up yet - should be soon. Just call Mario (number is on the site) if you plan to come!

The RAM Mount Aqua Boxes provide sealed enclosure and protection for your handheld devices. The clear, touch through screen allows you to view your electronics as well as use their function keys while in place. There is even a place for a small lock to serve as a theft deterrent.

Fits cell phones, iPods, etc. Looks like Otterbox is about to see some strong competition!

Coming up soon! This is a great rally - easy camping, nicely hosted, excellent group of folks and great rides. Amazing location - literally on the shore of the lake. I joined HSTA for this rally - you should too!

Another great excuse to ride - Robert is hosting another RTE in Arkansas:

We are scheduling a UALR, RTE or a Buffet Race this Saturday, July 28 at Noon at Mt Magazine State Park Lodge Restaurant. This is a
new facility and is supposed to be first class. We will see.

Come one, come all and enjoy fellowship and excellent scenery atop Arkansas’ highest mountain. Mt Magazine is located south of I-40
on Arkansas Route 309 in the western part of the state.

This months Arkansas Lunch Ride will be to Gaston’s Resort in Lakeview, Arkansas near Mt Home. www.gastons.com this Saturday, July
21ST.

You can find the restaurant near the landing strip, follow the billboards on State Route 178. We meet at Noon. This restaurant has
wonderful food, the scenery is fabulous and the riding is the best in the whole USA. Period.

LoweST 536 Mile Round Trip Arkansas

Then, on Sunday, the Ride for Kids event comes to Kansas City at the Johnson County Community College. Meet there at 7:30 AM; kickstands up at 9:30. Registration (if you haven’t already been collecting donations) is $35 per bike, or more if you like . . .

We’ll be having a few Ride To Eat’s this second half of the year; I’m covering the Eastern half of the state; Roger Smith is going to set up something in the central part of Kansas, and we’re looking for volunteers for a Western RTE…
