Why I Ride A Honda
Randy Quam summed it up in this post to a mailing list. The disucssion was on a propeller-badged bike company, and their response to rear drive unit failures.
My 99 ST1100 went thru 3 rear drives in 100K miles. Never was able to figure out why. Two of the occurances happened when it was > 3 yrs old and off factory warranty. One was covered on Extended Warranty claim (Third party not Honda Cda).
The last occurance made the difference for me. When the third party warranty provider denied coverage on the 3rd event it got interesting. Made a call to Honda Cda with the service Mgr from Carter Honda in Vancouver. Way past factory warranty coverge now. The girl @ Honda Cda’s reply was priceless. “Well that’s not right, it’s a Honda!” “Give me until Monday and I’ll be back to you.” Monday I get a call from Carter and am advised that Honda Cda is supplying parts no charge. Great I say, that is why I bought a Honda. Carter’s reply was, “You’ve been a good customer and, we know you take care of your bike, we’ll cover the installation costs. Enjoy your vacation.”
Needless to say I rode off happily into the sunset. :>)
