Hello HSTA,
The Louisiana chapter sadly must announce the cancellation of Cajun
Christmas 2005. We had a wonderful time last year with terrific
support from several state chapters and were looking forward to another
big success this December. Unfortunately the devastation caused by
hurricanes Katrina and Rita will preclude our annual Christmas event
for 2005.
Due to the 160,000 plus residences rendered uninhabitable in New Orleans
plus an as yet uncounted number in the Lake Charles area, the
Louisiana State Parks system has made all State Park lodging available
to the storm evacuees. A call to the Reservations Office confirmed reports
that NO reservations are being accepted through the remainder of the
year.
We look to seeing everone back in 2006 and planning has already begun.
We wish to thank past Cajun Christmas participants for their support
We also want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed
to the HSTA Katrina Relief Fund. Your tremendous generosity is amazing
and is deeply appreciated.
